The Yellow Wallpaper, a new musical
Atlanta, Georgia, USA - This video was submitted to us by Julia Appleton, the composer The Yellow Wallpaper, the Musical. This new show was set to premiere at the Alliance Theatre in Atlanta for a one night only presentation as part of a Festival of New Works at the Woodruff Arts Center, but this Festival was cancelled due to social distancing. Julia, and the playwright, Hannah Church had worked for 12-months at the Alliance Theatre through the Reiser Lab, and this presentation was supposed to be a culmination of that developmental process.
"The Book of Mountains and Seas"
San Francisco, USA - The New Conservatory Theatre Centre champions innovative, high-quality productions & educational theatre experiences for youth, artists, and the queer & allied communities. The Conservatory was set to present the World Premier of “The Book of Mountains and Seas", written by Yilong Liu and directed by Becca Wolff. Due to the corona virus, it only got one performance.
Why Art Matters During COVID-19
Hobart, AUSTRALIA - Stephanie Jack is an actor and creator who until the outbreak of COVID-19 was in Shanghai. She was making a video series called Mixed Up which explored being mixed race and living in China. When she returned to Australia, she created a video in collaboration with performers and artists in six different countries. They discuss ways to stay creative in isolation, and the books, music, and shows that are speaking to them at this time.
“The Falling”
Oja, California, USA - “The Falling” is a spoken prose story about getting dumped, the failure to receive, and being like a Vulture. Delivered in Licity Collins’ signature raw, open, style that exposes intimate details in real-time. Licity offers her life to be carved up and consumed in a style like the vultures to which she compares herself.
The Chorus of the Dutch National Opera
Amsterdam, THE NETHERLANDS - Well here is an Easter long-weekend treat! Our dear friends at the Dutch National Opera sent us this gorgeous and moving video of their Chorus singing an Easter Hymn from Cavalleria Rusticana, all from their living rooms. This video transported me out of my tiny apartment for just a little while and made me think warmly of Easter dinner with my family, across the country. Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful.
“Spectrum of Love”
New York City, USA - “ Spectrum of Love” is a documentary that explores how the language of love shifts and changes when children with special needs enter the picture and how healing comes from this dynamic. The movie was submitted to over ten film festivals, all of which have been canceled because of the pandemic.
Chilina Kennedy
Canada and US - Chilina Kennedy is known for her incredible work on stages across Canada and the US, including playing Carole King in Beautiful on Broadway. She has been kind enough to send us a message of positivity, solidarity, and support to all the artists and art lovers out there... plus a little song at the end. GROW - A New Canadian Musical
London/Toronto, CANADA - Folks all over were eagerly anticipating the opening of Grow (Book-Matt Murray; Music-Colleen Dauncey; Lyrics-Akiva Romer Segal) at the Grand Theatre in London, ON. This was a show with BUZZ, having been developed at the prestigious Canadian Music Theatre Project and the Goodspeed Festival of New Musicals, and it sadly had to be postponed. Thats why we were so thrilled when the team made this video for The Social Distancing Festival (video credit- Fred Miller III). Check out The One I Choose, sung by composer Colleen Dauncey.

They are AMAZING. The video was filmed at the dress rehearsal of the production, which was the only chance the company got to perform the show in it’s entirety.
