Telephone Theatre - Convergence Theatre and Outside the March
CANADA - Two theatre companies in Toronto are offering a new genre of performing arts: Telephone theatre!
Acclaimed theatre company Outside the March is offering The Ministry of Mundane Mysteries. Sign up on their homepage to receive “a personalized, week-long subscription to this auditory adventure.” Ministry divisions include: The Misplaced Keepsakes Division; the Striking Coincidences ThinkTank; the Missed Connections Unit; and the Paranormal Activity Task Force. Convergence Theatre is also doing some innovative interactive work that involves a phone line… or email; The Corona Variations. Starting March 28th at 10am, the company is collecting phone calls and emails from folks who wish to share the impact of COVID-19 on their lives. These prompts will then be assigned to an artist, serving as a commission for them to use it as inspiration for a new piece of art!
The company is also calling on patrons of the arts to donate money to fund the artists involved with this project.
