NY, USA - Having felt the impact of the spread of COVID-19, Award-winning Soprano wanted to share this video, once made in support to the people of Greece following the fires in Mati, in hopes of inspiring folks to stay connected.

Sofia Diana Antonakos an award winning lyrical soprano.

Sofia Antonakos, made her Carnegie Hall debut as a guest artist in January 2017, singing the Margaret aria from the Opera Louise Riel, written and sung in the Matis language, by Canadian Composer Harry Summers. She had the honor of representing Canada for its 150th birthday.

She then made her first international broadcast performance with conductor Yao and full orchestra live from New York to Shanghai. Singing The Yellow River Lament in mandarin, on September 11th 2015. Honoring the people of China in the remembrance concert Always Remember Never Again.

Sofia stared and debut in Puccini’s favorite opera Suor Angelica on March 25th 2014 with the New York Lyric Opera Theater.

In 2012 she won the Encouragement Award at The Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, Eastern Region 2012-2013 Season, in November 2012.

Sofia Was born in Athens, Greece. She came to Canada when she was one year old. Growing up in Banff, Alberta she began private voice training at the age of ten, and shortly after started competing and performing.

During her teen years Sofia moved to Victoria, B.C, and trained with the Royal Conservatory of Music. She was awarded an Arts Council Scholarship to continue her studies. She decided to return to her home country to study opera with Coach Marina Krilovici, and the Greek Lyrical Opera Studio.

While in Greece, Sofia was invited to perform for the Governor General of Canada and the Ambassador of Greece. Some of her Sofia’s past performances include, Michael Conway Baker’s musical, He’s Gone and A Dance of Life, The Silk Purse, & The Music of Michael Conway Baker, Out to Lunch, and many more.

Sofia also had the opportunity to perform as one of her idols, Maria Callas, in a tribute to Maria Callas’s Life. Now living full time in New York City. Sofia is performing and training under coach Mark Oswald, of the Metropolitan Opera.
