Carol Auld: Art in a time of COVID19

Victoria, BC, CANADA - Beautiful British Columbia greets an Artist’s gaze with familiarity. Though BC’s temperate rainforests are just out of reach for so many of us, these pieces by Artist, Carol Auld, embody the region’s inexplicable glow.

From the Artist, Carol Auld: The work in this series represents pieces that were to be exhibited at pop-up galleries and arts festivals in beautiful Victoria, BC, as well as sold as art cards at the same events. Due to the COVID19 pandemic, all of these events have been cancelled for the foreseeable future.

These images are combinations of paintings and photographs of the local flora and fauna in Victoria, BC, the only place in Canada with a sub-mediterranean climate. Even during the lockdowns, we are still allowed to visit parks and gardens, so I have taken the opportunity to continue my art practise collaging these images digitally.

Each image is 12” x 18” in backlit projection boxes, framed. They can also be exhibited as digital images in an online gallery.
