Prélude (Book 1) No. 5: Les collines d’Anacapri - Debussy

Toronto, Canada - Senaida Ng is a 17 year-old musician who was looking forward to her senior recital at the Royal Conservatory of Music, which sadly had to be cancelled.

From Senaida:

This is one of my favourite preludes by Debussy. He was inspired to write it during his summer in Anacapri, Italy and it’s about watching the beautiful sea at sunset and fireworks. The piece reminds me of when I was in Peniscola, Spain last summer with its beautiful white beaches and picturesque view from the top of a castle on the hill. I was supposed to play this piece at my final senior recital at the Royal Conservatory of Music’s Taylor Academy Showcase but it got cancelled due to COVID-19. The showcase is an event that I’ve looked forward to for the past 4 years I’ve been at the Academy because it’s one of our biggest concerts and many people from outside of the Academy come to watch including donors of the program. It’s such a nice time for our music community to come together and I’m deeply saddened that it got cancelled since it would have been my last time performing on the Mazzoleni Hall stage.
