Downtown Sounds

Vancouver, CANADA - Being Vancouver born and bred, this one is special to me. Plus it’s SUCH A COOL IDEA. If you’ve been to Granville Street, you know that there’s always some amazing music happening on the street. Since that can’t happen these days, the folks at the Downtown Vancouver Business Improvement Association have figured out a way to bring those excellent sounds to your home.

The Downtown Vancouver Business Improvement Association (DVBIA) proudly presents Downtown Sounds, a weekly highlight and playlist featuring the musicians of Granville Street. For those that miss the familiar sounds and songs they hear in the hustle and bustle of Granville Street, and the musicians who have had their natural stage and footfall audience taken away. Typically we have approximately 20 musicians in our roster that we pay an honorarium to and schedule at key locations on Granville Street up to 10 times per week.  With the pandemic protocol and social distancing introductions we can no longer do this, so we got creative and have been hiring the buskers to submit videos that we curate into a playlist and release on a weekly basis.
