Six Feet Away From My Baby

Toronto, ON, CANADA - Need a laugh? This clever and wonderfully produced song by the great Bob Johnston is a total bop. Check it out!

From the submission:

In the time of Covid-19, love can be complicated. Many couples are quarantined together, but those who are not face risks by meeting in person. In some cases, the greatest expression of love can be staying the hell away from each other. But what happens when lust overpowers common sense and it seems impossible to stay away? After many weeks of being quarantined alone in his basement, songwriter Bob Johnston sat down at the piano to tackle this very issue.

“Six Feet Away from my Baby”, released this week as a lyric video featuring Johnston himself tells the tale of two lovers, separated due to the quarantine, and the dangers that arise when they give into temptation. Edited by Eric Andrews, the video features Johnston at the piano in a split-screen delivering his cautionary tale. Harkening back to rockabilly and 1950's rock and roll, “Six Feet Away From My Baby” is as wickedly funny as it is catchy and infectious. The priceless twist at the climax of the song reminds us that in these unprecedented times, we all need to laugh just as much as we need to #stayhome!

About Bob Johnston:

Bob Johnston is a composer, lyricist, music director, orchestrator and educator who lives in Toronto. He has co-written written two Off Broadway musicals and he is one of the writers of the musical, “Anne and Gilbert” along with Nancy White and Jeff Hochhauser which in NOT being done anywhere this year. “Six Feet Away From My Baby” is his first collaboration with comedian/video editor, Eric Andrews.

My inspiration for the song is all those young men who are baffled by the corona virus and are bothered by the inconvenience of it all.
