Frida - My Two Accidents

“I have suffered two grave accidents in my life, once in which a street car knocked me down …… The other accident is Diego” Frida Kahlo. The piece explores the way these two ‘accidents’ could have impacted the iconic artist's life and work. 

MALTA - This video is a STUNNER. Moveo Dance Company is a professional dance company in Malta. Their show Frida was meant to be part of a double bill performance, which was to premier on the 24th April 2020 at Teatru Manoel; Malta’a National Theatre. Unfortunately due to the outbreak of COVID-19 the performance has so far been postponed due to the social distancing policy in Malta. At this point, they aren’t sure if it will ever be staged.

Award winning Moveo Dance Company was founded in 2008 by Artistic Director Dorian Mallia. It is one of Malta's leading professional contemporary dance companies on the island. It has been producing contemporary work since 2008 both locally as well as internationally. Most of its repertoire has also been presented in London, Berlin, Washington DC, Denmark, Bruno Cz ,Liberec Cz and Romania.  In 2018 Moveo was also commissioned for one of the main productions held at Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmed Cultural Centre –Kuwait for their Black and White production. Moveo has also presented its work at numerous festival and events including: Notte Bianca, Lejliet Lapsi, Malta International Arts Festival, Science in the City,  ProArt, Ziguzajg Kids & Youths Festival, Toi Toi and Chogm. 

Moveo is one of Arts Council Malta's ICO partners and is also nominated for this year’s “Best Creative Enterprise” award in the 3rd edition of the “Premju Ghall-Arti” Awards.
