Go Forth and Slay

by Anne-Marie Piazza and Darren Clark

From the submission by Anne-Marie Piazza:

Last Thursday and Friday I was supposed to be pitching and performing the new show I am writing with composer & lyrist Darren Clark at #BEAM2020  - a two day event, every two years, that showcases brand new musicals. Darren and I are London based and would have been in Northampton taking part and are gutted we can't share our work with the creative industry (but obviously this was going to be a big event and social distancing was essential).

So Friday, instead of performing and pitching the show, I spent the day recording myself playing all the instrumental lines and filmed the results to make up a little music video I'd like to share with you.  The song is opening number "The Cave" from new, one woman musical quest "Go Forth and Slay."

The show is an exploration of how we deal with trauma but told through the eyes of a 5th Century Welsh Dragon slayer. Monsters are real, they live amongst us & they aren’t going away so do we set out to slay them or learn to live with them. "Go Forth and Slay" is a one woman musical quest, facing them down & dragging them into the light.
