Mellisa Murray and Neffy

Inspired by the mountains and forests of their childhood, Songwriter Neffy and Choreographer Mellisa Murray explore their connection to the natural world as adults in a time of limited human interaction. This work is presented by the Consulate General for Canada in Washington D.C.

NEFFY

Singer-songwriter, Neffy, clings to her soulful roots in her folk/R&B lyrics and melodies. Her songs are “pure soul, killing you softly ‘till the end” (WAMU 88.5). The Arlington, Virginia native frequents the lineup for global music platform, Sofar Sounds. Playing over 100+ performances on the East Coast in the last two years. She is currently writing for her forthcoming project.

MELLISA MURRAY

Mellisa Murray was born and raised in Whitehorse, Yukon which is on the traditional territory of the Kwanlin Dun First Nation and Ta'an Kwach'an Council. She is a second-generation Chinese Canadian originating from Hong Kong. She has been dancing for over 23 years and specializes in a contemporary and street style fusion. She holds a BFA from York University and recently has been performing, choreographing and producing in her hometown. Mellisa has traveled to Europe to grow and develop as a professional artist, continues to contribute to her arts community and is on the Yukon Arts Advisory Council. She is very excited to be part of the Social Distancing Festival and excited to share her collaborated work.
