Travelling Seeds

Jacmal, HAITI - This virtual exhibit sent to us by the Jacmel Arts Center in Haiti is GORGEOUS. Featuring 16 different artists from the center, this exhibit was supposed to open at different galleries across the United States, but unfortunately due to social distancing, they were never shown to the public.

From the submission:

"Traveling Seeds" is a virtual exhibit organized by the Jacmel Arts Center of Jacmel, Haiti. The title of the exhibit comes from the Haitian proverb that says, "The tallest tree says that it sees far, but the traveling seed says that it can see much farther." Our goal is to make the art of our city, Jacmel, to see far, like seeds traveling on the wind. The goal of this exhibit is for the work of our artists to travel to places that it never has before. It is a combination of works that were scheduled to be shown in a series of traveling exhibits this spring and summer in Indianapolis, Indiana, and New Orleans, Louisiana. These exhibits were unfortunately cancelled due to COVID-19 and our main gallery at the center in Jacmel remains closed as well. So this virtual exhibit is our way of being able to still present the work of our artists to the world. We hope to continue with a rotating selection of our member artists in a new virtual exhibit every month.

So sit back and spend your afternoon exploring these beautiful pieces!
